Corset Building Workshop at The Art Bloc

Take your garment-making skills to the next level in this immersive two-day corset building workshop at The Art Bloc Sausalito. Designed for those with prior sewing experience, this hands-on class explores the precision, structure, and craftsmanship behind professional corsetry.
Working from a corset pattern, you’ll construct your own custom piece while refining techniques in fabric selection, pattern adjustments, boning, construction, and finishing. Artist Residency Ends
After four months in the studio, our fall artist residency has come to a close. Since September 9th, our artist in residence has spent every Wednesday with us from 9:00am to 3:00pm, and watching that work develop week to week has been one of our favorite parts of this season.
Thank you to everyone who stopped in on a Wednesday, asked a question, or just sat with the work as it came together. That kind of open exchange between artist and community is exactly what Art Bloc is here for.

Death Cafe
You’re invited to gather for a Death Café, an open and thoughtful conversation about death, grief, and the realities of being human, held in a welcoming and non directive space.
Death Cafés are part of a global movement created to increase awareness of death, with the intention of helping people live more fully. This is not therapy, not a lecture, and not a grief group. There is no agenda, no fixing, and no expectation to share. You are welcome exactly as you are.
Together, we will explore how loss, meaning, transition, and connection shape our lives. Artist Residency Starts
We're excited to welcome our fall artist in residence to Art Bloc Sausalito. Starting September 9th, they'll be working in the studio every Wednesday from 9:00am to 3:00pm through December 30th, developing new work right here in our space.

Collage Workshop
Spend an afternoon making something new out of the pieces of something old. In this hands-on collage workshop, you'll cut, tear, layer, and arrange your way into an original work that's entirely your own. No experience needed and no wrong moves here, just scissors, glue, good materials, and the freedom to play.
We'll provide everything you need to get started: vintage magazines, papers, found imagery, adhesives, and surfaces to build on. You're also welcome to bring personal materials like old photos, ticket stubs, postcards, or anything else you'd like to work into your piece.
Whether you're a seasoned maker or someone who hasn't picked up a glue stick since grade school, you'll leave with a finished collage and a few new ideas about how you see the world. Come create alongside fellow members of our community in the relaxed, light-filled space at Art Bloc.

Death Cafe
You’re invited to gather for a Death Café, an open and thoughtful conversation about death, grief, and the realities of being human, held in a welcoming and non directive space.
Death Cafés are part of a global movement created to increase awareness of death, with the intention of helping people live more fully. This is not therapy, not a lecture, and not a grief group. There is no agenda, no fixing, and no expectation to share. You are welcome exactly as you are.
Together, we will explore how loss, meaning, transition, and connection shape our lives. The space will be held with care and steadiness, offering light structure and gentle prompts, while the conversation itself belongs to the room. Some may speak. Some may listen. Rock Wrapping
There's something grounding about working with a stone in your hands. In this class, you'll slow down and turn a simple rock into a small piece of art, first by drawing and decorating its surface, then by wrapping it in wire or thread to bring out its shape and character. The result is part keepsake, part talisman, entirely yours.
We'll start with mark making: using fine pens, paint, and other tools to add patterns, line work, or imagery to your chosen stones. From there, we'll move into wrapping techniques, learning how to cradle a rock in wire or cord so it can hang as a pendant, anchor a display, or simply sit on your shelf as a reminder of an afternoon well spent.
All materials are provided, including stones, wire, cord, and drawing supplies, though you're welcome to bring a special rock of your own if there's one you've been holding onto. No experience needed. This is a relaxed, meditative class with plenty of room to experiment and make it your own.
Come work with your hands and leave with something small and meaningful, made in the light-filled space at Art Bloc.

Taking place from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day, this experience blends creativity, technical skill, and community in a beautiful studio setting.
Perfect for beginners and aspiring designers alike, you’ll learn the foundations of corset construction while gaining a deeper understanding of fit, structure, and garment design. By the end of the workshop, you’ll walk away with a finished corset made entirely by you.
